Derbyshire Neighbor - Green Creek Winery

About a half a mile from the Derbyshire main entrance, right across the street from our community if you use the side entrance, is our neighbor, Green Creek Winery. The winery and vineyards are owned by two brothers, Alvin and Marvin Pack, who can be found on the property almost everyday.

Callie, a great friend of ours, helps out with the wine tastings, bottling, and all of the events that take place at the winery.

Green Creek Winery is the first winery in the world to ever produce a red chardonnay. (Check out the bottle to the far left.)

When you take a tour of the back room, where all of the wine is stored and bottled, you can see the top secret equipment that is used to produce the Chardonnay Rosso. It was built by a pharmaceutical company specifically for this purpose, and it allows the chardonnay to be dyed with the skins from the Chambourcin grapes (which are used to produce another one of their wines).

All of their grapes are grown on the property, and all of the wine is made and bottled in their winery. They are open Thursday through Sunday from 1-5PM for tastings. They also host parties, weddings, and other events such as....

Their 4th Annual Anniversary Celebration will be held on September 5th from 10AM-6PM. They will have a live music, local arts & crafts vendor, and, of course, plenty wine (and a little grape stomping)! You can call them for more information at 828.863.2182 or visit the Green Creek Winery website.
